9 Tips for Planning an Eco-Friendly Trip

You might think that the only way to travel green is by doing everything yourself. Well, you would be wrong! There are plenty of ways to reduce your environmental impact while experiencing eco-friendly trip — even when going on vacation. Here are some tips for making sure your next trip is as eco-friendly as possible:

1. Travel to places with a commitment to sustainability.

Choose hotels and other ecologically friendly and environmentally conscious accommodations, like New Harmony Hotel in Hong Kong or The Residences at The Majestic Hotel in Paris.

Avoid places that are not eco-friendly or environmentally conscious, like Disney World’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (which uses coal-fired power), Las Vegas’ Aria Resort & Casino, Shanghai Disneyland Resort Company Limited (which burns coal for its heating systems), etc., as well as other “eco-unfriendly” destinations like Las Vegas Circus Circus Hotel & Casino or Macau’s City of Dreams resort (both have large solar arrays).

2. Find accommodations – Eco-friendly Trip

Ensure your accommodations are eco-friendly, carbon neutral, LEED certified, and use renewable energy. Look for accommodations that are animal friendly in addition to being environmentally friendly.

3. Look for sustainable, local food options.

If you’re planning on eco-friendly trip to any destination, consider looking for local food options. Most of the time, these will be found at markets or farm stands and can be very fresh!

Look for organic produce. Organic produce is grown without pesticides or other chemicals that may harm the environment (including humans). It’s also more nutritious than conventional crops because it contains higher antioxidants like vitamin C and certain minerals such as iron.

Avoid processed foods at all costs! Some examples include packaged snacks like chips or pretzels; processed cereals; cold cuts, cheese slices, dried fruits packed in syrup, and baked goods made with refined flour (like doughnuts).

Instead, try whole-grain varieties if possible – this will reduce your carbon footprint significantly because most baked goods require less energy input than white flours do when making them at home too!

Ask about sustainability practices before ordering anything—you might be surprised by what they’ll tell you!”

4. Bring your reusable bottles – Eco-Friendly Trip

Bring a reusable water bottle. If you’re going to be away from home for a while and have no access to tap water, bring your reusable bottle instead of using the plastic cups the hotel provides. The same goes for coffee mugs and other containers—there’s no need to rely on disposable packaging if you can ensure that everything is non-toxic before leaving home!

Bring a reusable coffee mug. This can be anything from an actual face (like one made out of bamboo) to an inflatable travel cup; make sure it doesn’t contain harmful chemicals!

Bring a reusable container for snacks and other food items that won’t fit in your suitcase or backpack quickly enough without making them spill out everywhere while traveling.

Through several airports unnecessarily will save money in long term since there won’t be any extra costs associated with buying new ones once they’ve been damaged during transportation overland routes such as car rental companies offer discounts on fuel consumption when drivers opt into using eco-friendly vehicles instead of standard ones.

Due primarily because less people do drive cars these days thanks mainly due its cost but also because gas prices tend increase yearly so expect prices go up sooner than later even though President Trump said otherwise earlier today stating “we’ll get our country back” although many experts doubt whether things will change much at all under his leadership unless “they” manage somehow trick him into signing something which would allow them access back into power again after having lost control during previous administration(s).

5. Avoid taking planes if you can avoid it.

Take trains, buses, or other public transport while you are on eco-friendly trip

Use a car sharing service. Some cities have programs that allow residents to rent out their cars when they’re not using them (or at least when they’re not driving through town). These are great because they’re convenient and can save money on gas/car maintenance costs! They may also be more environmentally friendly than owning your vehicle long-term—although there’s always room for personal preference here!

Walk instead of driving whenever possible (and don’t forget to bring water with you!). It’s important to remember that walking doesn’t necessarily mean hiking miles through the wilderness; it just means moving from one place to another without needing any form of transportation other than yourself (and maybe your legs).

If walking isn’t feasible due to distance or weather conditions such as rain or snow accumulation, then try biking instead; again, depending on where exactly these trips will take place before deciding upon which option fits best into any given situation and St Barts Villas is my personal favorite.

Use local taxis rather than hailing cabs from afar whenever possible because this helps reduce emissions created during transportation processes.

Look for flights that are direct instead of trying multiple stops throughout Europe/Asia etcetera since those extra days spent traveling could mean longer wait times at airports which might lead us back around again towards booking flights directly instead of booking multiple individual tickets/transfers, so we don’t waste any more time doing so.–

6. Have an excellent reason for traveling to another time zone or country before booking a flight.

If you’re interested in traveling to another time zone or country, it can be helpful to ensure that your reason for doing so is an excellent cause.

For example, if your trip is based on a business meeting with a client in New York City, it will be more beneficial for them if you can fly there and back rather than driving through half of America just so that they can meet with you over Skype (which is what I did).

If this doesn’t seem like enough incentive for booking a flight ahead of time, consider how much money they’ll save by not having their own private jet sitting at the airport while waiting for someone else’s plane.

7. Travel with eco-friendly gear and clothes

You can help the environment by bringing your reusable items. For example, pack a reusable water bottle and coffee mug, so you don’t have to buy plastic bottles or cups while traveling. Please bring a small shopping bag in case you need something light to carry your purchases around and a straw for when you want to drink something without having it touch its container (like an ice cream cone).

You may also consider bringing a utensil made from metal instead of plastic if possible—it’s better for the environment than plastic!

8. Learn about local environmental movements, organizations, and campaigns

While traveling, try to learn about local environmental movements, organizations, and campaigns. Please support them in any way you can while visiting.

Support local businesses by patronizing them directly or through word-of-mouth referrals. Support local organizations by volunteering for them or contributing money when possible.

Support local campaigns by donating to their causes and attending their rallies (if applicable). This can also include joining a protest if one is planned for your trip location!

Attend events hosted by these organizations instead of spending time at tourist attractions such as museums when there’s better programming available nearby that corresponds with what you’re interested in learning more about during your visit.

Whether it’s nature conservation efforts or other topics related specifically to the place where someone travels from; even just getting some exercise outside would be beneficial since most people don’t think twice about exercising indoors nowadays because most people nowadays don’t even realize how important physical activity is until after they’re already grown up enough not see anything wrong.

9. Pack light and leave room in your bag for souvenirs on the way home!

Pack light when you are on eco-friendly trip. Leave room in your bag for some souvenirs on the way back home!

Don’t overpack. If you have too much stuff, it can be a hassle to carry it all around town and ensure that everything is secure and safe (and when you get home). So don’t bring back anything more than what you need—or even if there was an item that wasn’t useful (a bug spray bottle), let someone else take care of that part before leaving town.

Don’t bring back more than you can afford to pay for at check-in time at the airport or train station; set realistic expectations about how much money is left over after paying for transportation costs, such as getting from point A – B using public transportation vs. private car rental company like Uber/Lyft, etc…

Be aware of your impact on the environment, even when you travel!

The most important thing to remember is that you can impact the environment even when you travel. For example, if you are planning a trip and choose to fly instead of taking the bus or train, many times, there aren’t any flights available for the same day as your scheduled departure date.

This means that if you’re flying from one city to another with a layover in between (which often happens when connecting flights), all those flights will add up over time and make things worse for our planet!

The same goes for hotels: if they didn’t have enough rooms to accommodate everyone who wanted them at their disposal, then they wouldn’t be able to charge their standard rate—which would cause many problems too!

Conclusion

There are many ways to travel for less, and eco-friendly options are one of them. While it may seem like a hassle or even impossible at times, it’s not that hard to make some changes that will positively impact the environment while you’re traveling! We hope this article has given you some helpful tips for planning an eco-friendly trip and preparing yourself for the journey ahead.
